Terms of Service

Effective 1 October 2026. These terms govern your use of Instruction Manual Maker, the desktop application, the SolidWorks add-in and this website (together, the "Software"), provided by Tread Enterprises Ltd., trading as Instruction Manual Maker ("we", "us").

1. The agreement

By starting a trial, subscribing, installing or using the Software you agree to these terms. If you are using the Software on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind it, and "you" means that company.

2. Licence

While your trial or subscription is active we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software on up to two computers for your own business purposes. You may not sell, rent, sublicense, reverse engineer or decompile the Software, remove its notices, or use it to build a competing product. Manuals, PDFs and other documents you create with the Software are yours.

3. Free trial

A trial gives full use of the Software for 30 days at no charge and requires no payment details. One trial per person and per computer. When the trial ends the Software stops opening until you subscribe; nothing you made is deleted. We may change or withdraw the trial offer at any time.

4. Subscriptions, billing and taxes

Subscriptions are sold and billed by our merchant of record, Paddle.com Market Limited, or its regional affiliate Paddle.com Inc. (US) or Paddle.com (Canada) Ltd ("Paddle"), which handles checkout, payment, invoicing, taxes and refunds. When you subscribe you also agree to Paddle's buyer terms. Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year at the price shown at checkout until cancelled. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any applicable taxes, which Paddle adds at checkout. We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice by email; a change applies from your next renewal.

5. Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time from the link in any Paddle receipt or invoice, through paddle.net, or by emailing us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and the Software keeps working until then. Refunds follow Paddle's Refund Policy, summarised in our refund policy.

6. Accounts and activation

Your account is identified by your email address and protected by a password you choose. Keep it confidential; you are responsible for use of the Software under your account. The Software activates each computer it runs on, checks your subscription with our licensing service about once a day when it can, and works offline for up to 30 days between checks. To move to a new computer, sign out on the old one.

7. Your data

The Software keeps your models, images, templates and manuals on your own computer or a network folder you choose. We do not receive them. What we do collect is described in our privacy policy. Backing up your data folder is your responsibility.

8. Updates and availability

We may release updates that change or remove features. Sign-in, activation and purchases depend on our online services and those of our providers; we aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee it. Because the Software works offline between checks, short outages do not stop you working.

9. Third-party software

SolidWorks is a product of Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corporation and is licensed separately. The Software is not affiliated with or endorsed by Dassault Systèmes. Open-source components in the Software are used under their own licences, which are included with it.

10. Warranty and liability

The Software is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law we exclude all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. You are responsible for checking that the manuals you produce are correct and complete for your products and your obligations. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the Software is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, consequential or lost-profit damages. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Termination

We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or if a payment is not made. You may stop using the Software at any time. Sections 2 (as to restrictions), 7, 10 and 12 survive termination.

12. General

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and the courts of British Columbia have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law of your country gives you rights that cannot be excluded. If any part of these terms is unenforceable the rest remains in effect. We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here and, for subscribers, sent by email, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
